but if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live. \u003csup\u003e14\u003c\/sup\u003e For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God” (Romans 8:13-14).\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eThus we must confess Christ to be saved from God’s wrath: \u003c\/strong\u003e\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003e“That if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. \u003csup\u003e10\u003c\/sup\u003e For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation” (Romans 10:9-10).\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eSo the resurrection of Jesus Christ is the validation of God’s acceptance of Christ’s sacrifice of atonement as payment for our sins:\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003e“For “whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved” (Romans 10:13).\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eBut our confession must be genuine, from the heart. How is this possible? \u003c\/strong\u003e\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003e“So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God” (Romans 10:17).\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eSo we hear the message of Jesus Christ by the scriptures and are thus led by the Spirit (Romans 8:14) to saving faith in Christ, not by our own deeds: \u003c\/strong\u003e\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003e“But you are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God dwells in you. Now if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, \u003cspan\u003e\u003cstrong\u003ehe is not His\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003c\/span\u003e” (Romans 8:9).\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eHere the Spirit of God is equated with the Spirit of Christ. So you can’t have one without the other. So any attempt to do it our own way brings God’s wrath on us: \u003c\/strong\u003e\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003e“He who believes in the Son has everlasting life; and he who does not believe the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God abides on him” (John 3:36).\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eSo the death and resurrection of Christ is the only payment God will accept as payment for our sins. It is entirely logical. For if the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead is not true and Jesus remained dead in the tomb, then darkness has overcome light, hate has overcome love, evil has overcome good and death has overcome life:\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003e“And if Christ is not risen, your faith is futile; you are still in your sins” (1 Corinthians 15:17).\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eFinally, confirmation that Jesus Christ is God: \u003c\/strong\u003e\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003e“According to the flesh, Christ came, who is over all, the eternally blessed God.
